Hiba El Khamal — Executive Director
Hiba spent more than 12 years in the women’s rights movement across the Maghreb and the Middle East before taking the helm of ITPC-MENA. There she forged a conviction that still guides her work: making community knowledge count where health policy is decided. A lawyer by training and a strategist by instinct, she’s interested in who holds power and how to shift it. Based in Marrakech, she likes to move between languages the way she moves between sports, and refuses to believe that rigour and good humour can’t go together
Hanane Kharrazi — Financial and Administrative Coordinator
Hanane oversees the financial tracking of grant-funded projects and keeps the organization financially sound, while making sure procedures are followed at every step. Finance, administration, HR: she handles a bit of everything, and holds it all together. Her superpower? Staying calm when the numbers, the deadlines and the risks all decide to gang up on her. For Hanane, financial rigour isn’t a constraint — it’s what makes the whole team’s work credible.
Othmane Marrakchi — Advocacy Manager
An economist by training, Othmane challenges abusive pharmaceutical patents — before patent offices, in the courts, or directly across the table from the companies themselves. It’s technical, patient work, where wins rarely come fast but each one brings down the price of a treatment for an entire country. On the team, he’s the steady voice, the one people turn to when an advocacy strategy gets complicated. The rest of the time, he explains to people waiting for treatment why it hasn’t arrived.
Zakaria Bahtout — Program Manager
Zakaria grew up with the conviction that access to health should never depend on the country you’re born in, or the strength of the network around you. Today he coordinates ITPC-MENA’s programmes across the region, but his real ground is mobilization: bringing together communities too often made invisible, connecting isolated activists, turning individual anger into collective force. What drives him? Bringing people together, making connections — and, incidentally, testing every new AI tool the moment it drops, convinced that a good prompt can move a cause forward. A self-proclaimed geek, he works artificial intelligence into just about every conversation, invited or not.
Zahira Slihmi — Support and Maintenance Worker
Zahira is the one who keeps the whole place running. Cleaning, errands, photocopying, scanning and filing: she’s the one who makes sure the office is welcoming and every document is where it should be, so the rest of the team can work in the best possible conditions. Nothing irritates her more than work left to the last minute — and she’ll let you know, always with a smile. Without her, nothing would be ready on time: she’s the quiet infrastructure everything else rests on.
Zayd Marrakchi — Program Officer
Zayd started as an intern and now backs the team up on every front: budgets, logistics, coordination, partners. He has two speeds — planning ahead so nothing falls through, and catching it when it falls through anyway. A musician and artist at heart, he’s also the one with an eye for design: sooner or later everyone on the team asks him for a hand with a poster or a presentation, and since he can’t say no, he does it. No time to get bored.
